Found this a few days ago while havin a look on the U.S forums and watched the trailers, looks pretty good for a fan made production (not the blair-witch project with swords and a strange bearded man) but I guess I cant say much till I've watched it all, the online premiere is today at 4pm and it's supposed to be free to watch so might be worth a look if it's your sorta thing.
I've really been looking forward to this - but I'm not expecting to try to see it just now (or in 10 minutes), partly expecting the site to be slow and overloaded and partly due to having a date with Hwadryn (she will always be my queen :P).

Not at all bad. I have two principal criticisms. 1) The Jacksons were twats. Therefore why do you think you have to copy them, especially in respect of trying to find clones of Viggo Mortensen (who, like the Jacksons, has done nothing worth mentioning before or since) & Ian McKellen? 2) The fight scenes are rubbish. Especially Aragorn vs. 14 orcs where they conveniently line up to fight him 1 at a time...
But for fan produced with no budget & no pay off? Man, this is seriously goooooooood! ;)

I thought they did perhaps try to emulate the films a bit to much but aside from that was well worth watching, as for the fights I suppose with less budget you get less complex choreography, aye they did line up a bit but you gotta do what you can with what you have, overall tho excellent work i think.
Theres another one in the works as well, was listed in the links section "i think"

You miss my point, my friend. I know how to fight remember? Budget isn't the problem here, the medium is. They undoubtedly used a fight choreographer trained in the stage-school method. Stage fighting is totally different to the real thing, with a very different purpose in mind. It looks good (usually), provided you don't know what you're looking at. Alas! I do... ;)

I have not finished watching it yet but thought it was very good considering. Thanks for the heads up Bothorn
I do... ;)
A fellow re-enacter or just another average Rambo-marine? ;)

Partly as a fellow re-enactor, though frankly a lot of re-enactment fighting is either "fives" or what I call "display fighting". More to the point, I'm a (badly out-of-practice) medieval martial artist (Flos Duellatorum).
Ahh, a genuine viking here. We had two sides to it - the primary one being competitive fighting and the secondary one being staged show-fights, the show-fights being done much less and just for some events at museums etc. The two weekly tranings however were all in the competitive type - having rules (such as where to strike for a kill/point) but definately fighting someone wanting to get you as much you want to get them, unlike a movie-choreography. However, I never got far with it - I'm just not very good at hitting people and in the end I couldnt find the time for it amidst so many other things. I did spend enough time though that, coupled with my history studies, I do know what makes for a realistic battle and what does not.
And I just finally got around to see the movie. Overall I'm very impressed with what they've done, but if being sceptical I have to add that while imitation is said to be the sincerest form of flattery it does limit the sense of original creativity watching their otherwise very impressive work (as unfunded fan-movies go), that they to such a large extent imitates Peter Jackson's style makes it more of a pastiche at times than a genuine creation. Secondly they ironically do this so perfectly that it will undoubtfully be compared to the standard of the billion-dollar production of the trilogy that even the slightest element falling below the standard of the Trilogy stands out - I for instance loved the outdoor shots, but all the indoor settings decor just looked.. awkward to me. The same goes for the actors - they all do great, but due to the proxmity to the Jackson movies if feels a bit awkward that they are not the same actors (Yeah, Raedwulf I think you get the picture that I actually liked Jackson's movies - as well as the performances of McKellen and Mortensen, just as I think Mortensen did brilliantly in A History of Voilence and Eastern Promises).
Ohh, and those not liking Arwen should shut their eyes now, I really liked their Arwen *melting heart giggle* - much more genuinely beautiful than the Hollywoodish Armageddon-babeish Liv Tyler. In fact, this movie makes Middle Earth more alive using unfamiliar faces (rather than Hollywood-blockbusters) if only they hadnt been to set on making them a pastiche of the actors of the Hollywood production.
And Bothorn - the other fan-movie expected to have an equally high quality is called "Born of Hope" I believe - and it's about Aragorns childhood.

Ineed aye, well not totally sure. It's definetly about his parents Arathorn and Gilraen tho and his birth but not sure how far into his life it goes.
