This is an offical pronouncement from Satine on the LOTRO forum:

"Hi all,

I'm afraid QA have come back with some not very good news. However, we are currently reviewing the severity of the issues found and will have an update for you on the go, no-go status of the update later today.

More official bits (if you can't be bothered to go find it or read it on the login window, where I daresay it's also announced...):

"Hi all,

Thanks for your patience this week whilst we wait for Book 7. As mentioned in another thread earlier, our QA team found some pretty serious errors that needed addressing.

We have since reviewed these errors and we require another test build made for us before we can continue with the process towards getting it updated to our live servers.

The error found was one to do with text encoding. Basically, the in-game text was incorrectly encoded which meant that a large chunk of the game's text displayed as random symbols and incomprehensible "garbage".

Furthermore, as you may be aware, Turbine are today adding a patch to their live servers which fixes some pretty nasty bugs, so we are going to wait to have this patch added to our new build too, which is due in later this week, (TBC).

Currently, our new target date for Book 7 is Thursday, April 2nd. We will of course keep you updated on the way with any developments.

Thanks once again for being so patient with this, we hope you have been enjoying all the various events and festivities around the world in the meantime.

I know I'm in a minority here for purely self-involved reasons, but....

SWEET! ;)

Only up until I level out, at which point it's "Damn :("

Truth to tell, I'm not that bothered myself. The moment it's opened it'll be everyone chasing the same stuff & the lag-fest will move from DV / 21st to the Lorien hub. The Epic will be crap. There'll be a delay opening content whilst the server gathers all the necessary anyway. Above all, I'm perfectly content to wait until it comes in bug-free (relatively speaking)!

I wonder if there'll be more amusing female dwarf voices.

Yeah, Lothlorien will be absolutely swamped with people, but i am looking forward to the most useful and convienient location in the game for all needs - the 21st hall - to actually be usable again.

Although having Tari's DPS rise to slightly above hunters when traited properly is a laughable enough concept to make me want the book asap. ;)

The go live meeting is this afternoon apparently. From Faya,

"Hi all,

The go no go meeting for book 7 is this afternoon. Currently QA have reported no blocking issues so far so we are currently still on track. "

However, as the next poster cynically remarked,

"Thanks for the update Faya, so that means that:

1) This afternoon we'll know wether it's go or no go;
2) The standalone patcher will be up no later then end of the afternoon, swamping the download;
3) There are issues still in Book 7, just not big enough to keep it from being released (like Turtle-raid lock, gift boxes, etc.)"

So I'm not sure whether to pray for another adjournment or what...

Ah well, would be nice to farm that Turtle for the 1st/2nd Age Weapons a bit.

Turbine is locking the Turtle raid on their US servers. Good chances we won't be getting it unlocked either.

My understanding was that the US had already had it locked, last week or the week before, & that it was hoped the issue would be resolved by the time the EU went live (particularly since they had an extra week...).

Wonder if they're in the meeting yet...

A standalone patcher will be available for Book 7: Leaves of Lórien however it is unlikely that it will be passed and ready for public use before Book 7 goes live.

In order to patch up to Book 7, all players who are running the current client can simply update via the game's launcher which will automatically download the patch once Book 7 has gone live.

If you have an earlier client, please either follow the on-screen instructions or refer to our user patching guide.

Once the standalone patcher is published the links will be made available for you to download it on the website and forums.
It will go, but no downloadable patch. Queue for updates at 3 kB/sec people!

And no, there is no fix for that Turtle yet. We just will have to do without that one for now I think. I was so hoping we could farm it a few times.

Update:
Hand-ins have also been shut down for now. We'll have to wait for patch 2 before we can start unlocking the raid. So take US release of patch 2, plus two weeks for EU porting, plus two weeks for grinding crafts. Wonderful.

What?!

RK DPS will be the top of the DPS chain, followed by minstrels and hunters on roughly equal footing, then it sort of follows the more traditional layout (although LM's will be higher than before nd burglars will still be last and trying desperately to get dev attention:P)

As for the turtle raid, since theres a lengthy prerequisite for opening it and the patch is due out in the US soon, i figure they plan on patching before anyone gets to the point of being redy for the fight.

Heh. And I actually fired up AoC this morning so that it could patch itself. Account is suspended of course, so I can't log in, but it's supposed to have improved a lot in the last 6 months (though, in fairness, it had a fairly low baseline to improve from!). I can see me taking a bit of a holiday in the not-too-distant future & checking it out again... Anyone care to join me? Can't remember what server I'm on, except that it's the RP PvE one (presuming that there's still only one).

Turbine & Codies have made a right balls up of the whole bloody expansion so far. I am not impressed!

Burgs are busy stealing the loot while the rest of you worry about dps

Well I dont know if there the top exactly, supposedly you have some skill called "epic conclusion" thats been critting for 5k but theres so much spin on the US forums its hard to tell whats what, you have RK's sayin ah yes it happens but we need to do blah blah before hand and then it dosent always happens, then you got the hunters and champs saying our dps is based on our weapons and there buggered now so we cant do anything like that ect ect then you got minstrels who have had a there lute replaced with the BFG from Doom or so the rumours suggest :p

Honestly, I find taking smaller breaks from LOTRO - even a few days - does wonders for enjoyment and lack of frustration in coming books/patches. Having to reach the level cap and endgame stuff is an effort and a pain in some ways.

I read a good 'AoC revisited' piece today on Eurogamer, and it does seem to have improved a great deal, but even with the server mergers the player numbers are rock bottom. I'm quite happy plodding along with LOTRO I think (and yes, my AoC account is suspended also :p). The Bear Shaman though, that's a funky class right there.

Just have a breather everyone ;)

I recall some parses from the US boards (which were offline when i tried to get on them), but basically it showed minstrels averaging more that champions, and hunters and rune-keepers doing similiar damage when equipped with a same age weapon (jumped from 300DPS ish with third age to 350DPS with a first age), captains were next on the list, but a good 40 DPS lower than champs.
