View Full Version : SPOILER: Bloody Bk15...

Not a serious spoiler, this one (or at least not from me in this post). As you may have gathered from elsewhere, Bk15 is a royal pain-in-the-arse. Apart from the fact that it's the usual dross storyline, it involves a hell of a lot of travel time. Which wouldn't be so bad except that the hub of it is Delossad. In the middle of bloody nowhere!

I absolutely recommend that any non-Hunter does not do this solo, if they can possibly help it. Ang did this on day one with Haleabor, & whilst getting back to Ds was irritating, at least we could port out quickly & then back to Rivendell (when Hal remembered he was a Hunter, anyways... :P). By far the best & quickest method is if you can arrange to have a Hunter & Captain in the party, & someone else with a Captain alt parked at Ds. It does mean someone has to keep switching characters (Rhy / Arakasi did the job on day two), but you save an enormous amount of time.

When you first get everyone to DS, switch to the parked CPT & have the party CPT summon them; switch back from the parked CPT. The HNT can then port everone out; when you're ready to return, switch back to the parked CPT, who summons the party CPT, who summons everyone else whilst the parked CPT is switching back to their other alt. Clunky, but a bloody sight quicker than any other alternative.

The only other slightly spoiler-ish things worth saying are the first 11 chapters of the book are crap, even ch6, which is the session play instance (though it does provide one brief moment of amusement when, after saying "We will leave together", "We" start walking off in opposite directions!). You pretty much can't fail anything unless you get Dc'd in ch6 or 8, until you get to ch12.

Ch12 is a full fs Instance & it's sodding hard, which is why it's fun! As far as I know, none of the RRU regulars have completed it yet (though I have a feeling Rauk may have, at least), though Hal & I got reasonably close. How hard it is you will realise when you get to the NPC who takes you into it & see the regularly appearing host of dead bodies who've been kicked out of a failed Instance... Incidentally, if you do die in ch12, even if it's a complete wipe DON'T retreat. At the moment there are usually plenty of people standing around the NPC when you're kicked, & often enough someone outside the fs is willing to start ressing people. It does mean you don't have to wait to be rid of dread before trying again...

I had a go at this last night and it is very difficult and the group i was in didnt manage BUT.... i know the method its just getting everyone to put it into practice. Since u said no sploilers i wont go into it here. On that note does this forum have that function where you can hide info in a hideable window , ive seen it on other forums to hide spoilers for stuff, u gotta click on sumthin to seee the spoilery bit.

And as usual i ask a question thats answered in another 5 mins earlier, blahhhhhh :p

Aye so the first part getting to the boss is fairly easy, you got Gashfra Orcs w/e and Fire Grims the Grims have to die quicky if they appear cause they hurt bad, for the most of it really u just have to CC and kill sensibly and keep Amarthriel alive (she is a bit dumb and she dosent take any rests on the way) when u get to the boss she tells you that she cant go near him so someone has to fight in her name...

At that point the tank goes in and the rest stay to fight the multitude of fire grims that keep spawning near Amarthriel, she clears all wounds so its best that any range ppl stay away so the LM can cure the regular ones himself as it saves the Efl power, now there are 3 special wounds 2 are red icons with a ring and 1 is yellow with a ring,
they all have to be removed by the elf, the yellow Wound is an instant defeat on expire.

So the important bit when someone first gets any wound they have to run to the Elf for a cure BUT when they get the Yellow wound and it's removed you get an icon looking like Amarthriels face, thats a buff that gives you 50% absorb and 150% reflect of dmg (lasts for 20-secs maybe), thats how you kill him, when a person gains this buff he has to go on the boss for the duration and get his aggro, you also get another icon that tells you that you have his aggro, I think it was a Flexing arm possibly, anyhow between killing grims you gotta have the person with this buff whoever it is on the boss all the time while the rest kill he adds, im not sure if its wise or not to leave the minstrel and ignore any buffs he/she gets tho but, im sure we will figure it out.

Before I forget... There is a bug in Bk15 you may want to be aware of. When you complete Ch9, you get teleported somewhere else by the questgiver. What is supposed to happen is that you arrive in the new location with the questgiver, who you then talk to...

What has happened to me twice is that I have teleported, had no Bk15 quest in my log (ch.9 having been completed) on arrival & been unable to see the questgiver either. Logging out & back in might help, but it's also erratic as a cure. It has worked for me when I left it a while before logging; when I logged straightaway on encountering the problem, the questgiver still wasn't there when I came back. All you can really do is ticket it & wait for the bugfix; the rest is guesswork. But I thought I'd warn you.

I got struck by a different bug. Chapter 11 tells you to go and pick something, you bring it back and after a talk-to you get Chapter 12. We started the instance, failed (a few times) and at some point of time I noticed that according to my log I am still at chapter 11 all of a sudden... Reloging didn't help, I had to assume delivery-girl role again. Good thing I've noticed it before we have actually finished the instance =.= Which is LONG.

Did the first 11 chapters of book 15 this afternoon, having done enough quests in Eregion to get the fast travel Rivendell to Gwingris helped alot, which is only a 2 min ride from Delossad.
