I believe they are all increasing because of

http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.php?t=169913

that thread shows that there is new crafting guilds and all the materials needed for them, I suggest You Start Farming Now, Before Moria.

Interesting. It also seriously affects your vocation choices for the new alts. I know some of us, me included, were simply going to make the new alt's Explorers, since we've already GM'd, or near-GM'd every profession. Now however, see the quote below.

If players now want to cover all the crafting bases then they must use 7 of their 7 slots (since we're getting 2 more) to cover all the crafting guilds, correct?

Trying to make plans here...
That is the way I understand it.
I will have my
Tinker specialize my GM Jeweler
Armorour specialize my GM Metalsmith
Armsman specialize my GM weaponsmith
Historian specialize my GM scholar.

So I could use my other 3 slots to work on the following for crafting.
Woodsman for Woodworker
Tinker for Cook
Explorer for Tailor

I hate Yeoman as you can't gather anything valuable. I hate not being able to gather ore or wood ( it always irritates me to run by that rich ore node with my Historian).

With this set up, I can still have the chance to gather ore with 5/7 characters and wood with 2/7.

From what I can see.. this really pains those Historians who bothered to GM weaponsmith when they couldnt gather the ore. You really need to focus each of the 7 character slots on a producing crafter.

I'd agree wholeheartedly with the poster on this. I've presently got Armourer (M/smith), Historian (Scholar), Explorer (Tailor), Tinker (Jeweller), & Armsman (W/smith). So for me it'll be a second Tinker for specialising Cook, & Woodsman who can then gather his own materials for W/work.

Only got one character that has 2 Gm's and that Weaponsmith+woodworker would like to do both but there both a complete nightmare to GM in my opinion so I wont be redoin the one I dont join a guild for with much hurry. Still I have tailor and scholar as well to do anyhoo =p

Argh, that will mean forking out the gold and time for another GM Cook.

Bothorn - if you've w/wrk & W/s on the same, you must be an Armsman, in which case you'd better put him in the W/smith guild & sort out a Woodsman. Also bear in mind that it's a lot easier to GM now than it was, since recipes are cheaper on materials (several of mine GM'd professions before they did this!). And if you need materials then post a Wanted thread in the Kinhall so we know what's required! I spend most of the time running past nodes, or vendoring stuff I pick up, because I GM'd almost everything (Ang needs 140xp for GM W/s & he's the last).

Hal - I hope one of your's is a Woodsman then!

yee i fear so... probably wont bother for sometime tho since ive got weapons, scholar and tailor to do anyhoo and i dont see much point having a GM crafter that not 50 and unable to use the best tools , that is the one of the things about crafting in this game that annoys me (insert long rant about how SWG had best crafting system ever in an MMO)

by the way this is bothorn, i just didnt realise my brother had sneakily logged onto his forum account =@

Heh. I'm going to disagree. I know nowt about SWG (Star Wars Galaxies?), but I hate the way crafting is disengaged from alt level. One of the biggest irritations I came across (probably a year ago, now) was the Level 6, yes six, hobbit simply begging for help (using txt, too, on an RP channel) in killing a boar in Giant Valley. Yes, that boar. The one for the L40 cook's quest that opens up T5 recipes. Many of you will know that I hate power-levelling, in most instances, & that was so blatantly cheating the spirit of the game... I did resist the temptation to flame the hell out of him; I'm still not quite sure how. It's one thing AoC definitely does better than LOTRO - with crafting, until you've reached the right level, you simply can't get the quest. End of story.

Anyway, I digress... ;)

To some extent, I agree with you Raedwulf. However, I think the quests for Cooking are not reasonable. As with any vocation, you need to be able to gather resources in order to make the recipes. Usually, gathering these ingredients involve visiting higher level areas per tier. Cooking is the exception, as all ingredients can be obtained within the bounds of the Shire. In Hobbiton, to be exact, on the farm. The quests for Cooking are, in my opinion, completely useless and should be abandoned.

Galaxies was a different gamin terms of crafting, each proffession cook, armour weaponsmith and the likes could all make the same recipes of there own craft but the quality materials they collected played a huge role in the quality of the end product, its really hard to explain all the in's and outs of it but I just loved cause it was so in depth, love this game but it's craftin system is more of a nessisary evil for me, not to get totally of topic tho, i've pretty much worn my picaxe to a stump and collected nearly everything i need to guild up my WS if im a little short i'll just grab it as I go =)

In that particular instance, yes I agree. Farmers, Prospectors, & Foresters don't need to do craft q's to level up. Pr's & Frst's need to be able to survive, yes, but Farmers just need enough gold... In that sense, yes, making cooks do a class q is senseless. Nevertheless, I've seen L12-15 GM scholars. That's cheating. Since the game does require Cooks to do a class q... A GM cook below L35 is cheating.

The closest I got to this was asking a kinnie (Abarax, I think, might have been one of Khor's) to help me kill the Auroch's for the T2 Tailor quest (L20) when I (can't remember whether it was Eik or Raed) was only 17-18. Then, as a green MMOer, I didn't realise I could probably solo it. Now, knowing what I know, I'd try. But I still resolutely refuse to help anyone kill a purple mob. If the mob is more than 5 levels above you, I'm not helping you; I'm doing it for you, because you cannot possibly kill it. That's cheating.

The first post in that thread is the most useful part of it, since it goes through guild crafting to kindred in detail for each profession. However, it doesn't list the total amount of materials needed conveniently, so I've extracted these for each profession. I am presuming the numbers given are error free! Note that T1 & 2 materials are not required, but all of T3-5 are if you want to progress in the minimum time. Note also that there are "supreme" material timescales listed, which would shorten the time, but without any detail as to what they are or their associated recipes.
