Well I've managed to get Rift Locks to Balrog and Carn Dum locks to Mordirith both on Halaewyn

If anyone is intersted in doing a Roggy only rift run then post below....if we don't get enough for Rift then maybe those signed up would consider Mordy (don't have keys though)...

Start tonight at 8.00

Hal

Still can't do Rift *cries*
If you don't manage to build a group, Mordrith is fine with me.

Hi,

I may have dropped a clanger here; thought there wasnt a rift run this week so allowed myself to be press-ganged into a run last night to help some kin out. Mr B was downed & I have the locks for him which I assume makes me less than useful for tonight - on the off-chance that it doesnt I'll be on and invitable.

Cheers
Nye

Not too sure I can be on in time (probably 21:00 CET) but would like to go if I'm on time, either 'roggie or Mordy King(elder staff!)

Qualification for Balrog gear is by player, not by alt. I'm probably not available.

I can come if required, since this is a one off shot at the Balrog I would assume normal loot rules don't apply and anyone can roll on any one jewel regardless, shoulders please.

I would like to take full responsibility for the final wipe last night. I was tired and simply wasn't watching the elf.

I know Tari knows this but he was polite enough to only make vague reference to my ineptitude.

I think I'm fated never to kill the Balrog so I'll start looking forward to the Watcher instead. Besides which I think the Balrog looks like a cabbage-patch doll

Hal

Noone is full responsible, Hal, win or loose, it's always a group effort. If LM's and captains had watched the elf enough, if all had killed adds quicker, if...this can be done with 6 man, it cam be done with 6 working hard and 6 being tired.

You are important to us Hal, but not so much that you win or loose our 'rog fights (leave that to hunters, claiming their KB is all that matters in the end )

Oi Notiane... that _is_ all that matters.. It entitles us to more lewt!

Hal, no comments of ineptitude were ever directed at you (or should have been read that way), I have no complaints whatsoever regarding your performance last night and consider you one of the better minstrels in RRU (although perhaps a little too like me as we often healed the same targets :P). You were just one of the unlucky ones to die in the second attempt (i came close enough a lot, had under 300 morale more times than i can remember) which unfortunatly left me as the lone primary healer. It sucks but it happens and you did a good job, don't worry about anything else :)

We had bad luck on the first attempt (enrage will backfire like that roughly 1/13 attempts).

The second attempt we waited at the ever-seer door too long before moving to the rog which cost us our DPS, then the rog being too close to the platform put too much weight on us to heal and we lost a lot of people before the situation was rectified (inexperience was the cause of this rather than inability) and with the few members we had left and limited healing on the elf, it was just a case of how far could we get before wiping as opposed to if we'd wipe or not. I will say i was impressed by everyone who kept going, only things that stopped us were the inability to control his aggro and not being able to stop the effects of his upset stomach on the elf.

The third run was due to lack of experience with the different tactics; i'm guessing the hunters did not have a feel for how much of their attention needed to be focused on the rog to keep his attention and we never discussed the burglar being prepared to throw enrage on him should the elf take more than one hit. Again no-one's fault really, just teething troubles with the tactics.

As for next time, i vote when we've cleared both lever rooms, we have the hunters and the guardian all stay where they are for a while (my belief is he only does baleful roar during this section if there are no players in melee range, so the guardian runs to him straight away). The hunters stick around with him as well doing nothing (or actively lowering aggro, i think quickshot in endurance stance does this, but i'm not a hunter so what do i know :)) until he is on the guardian, at which point we can all take a casual stroll (hunters included) to the ever-seer room, smash his face in and wait in the corner for the levers to be pulled. The second they are pulled, we all move as fast as we can straight down the middle to him (with the guardian there, should be no roars). We move him to the usual position and proceed with the old tactics.

Lack of experience was definately our downfall and I have to put my hand up and take a fair share of the blame. After the first attempt where enrage had no effect at all, the Balrog had the enrage icon on him but wasn't switching targets off the elf, I didnt bother with it later on in the fights thinking him immune when perhaps I should. That said it only takes a second for someone with a bit more experience to say in teamspeak they would like the Balrog enraged.
Quiet day at work so had a chance to read the rift guides again and found something else I should've been doing, In the everseer fight I was trying to help clear those darklings when I should have been addling the everseer won't make that mistake again.
The other mistake I had was after the everseer room I ran to the sigil for healing when perhaps I should have gone straight to the Balrog and been using disable and addle which might have lessened the healers workload.
That said it was the furthest I've been in the rift and until you've actually been there and experienced it for yourself the guides don't mean much. Hopefully next time I'll do my job a little better.

This was in fact the old way to do it, we usually left a captain there who would have aggro but still be getting heals from the elf. (say screenshots of a hunter also keeping aggro while group deals with everseer). Unfortunately it was changed with one of the books so basically whoevers out there with balrog will lose hope as he roars constantly.

How about a minstrel lays a hopeful heart before going to everseer room...???

I suspect it'd take longer than 5 minutes to beat the ever-seer unfortunatly. Also Rauk, both hunters we had alone with the balrog seemed to survive fine (regardless of any hope wipes)

2 hunters on the balrog as rest of group killed everseer? :)
Can someone enlighten me as to what you were trying or was it due to not having the right class balance?

Well, the enrage tactic just didnt seem to work properly, so we figured we'd have hunters taking agro, as they can loose it pretty fast if need be. But now that I think of it, even one hunter could manage this, maybe with a guardian.

We had hope wipes, yes. I had them straight away. The other hunter was positioned two steps back and did not get them until we had defeated the Ever-seer and Thaurlach approached us.
