Gem Farming
I may head & format this properly later. For now, so that there's something up & you know what's loosely planned...
I've said that Off- Raids are training grounds. That's exactly what this one is going to be. Over & over. I'm going to take advantage of the fact that there is no w/e raid preceding, so that there should be no major danger of anyone in this alliance having picked up locks.
What we are going to do is to attempt to apply Tarinas' clever little idea, suggested here, http://annonamarth.eu/forum/a-random-thought-t348.html. Since I suspect that breaking & reforming raids is going to mean respawns constantly reappearing, we are going to get lots of opportunities to practice our tactics on earlier sets of mobs, & general raid tactics. After tackling Barz & Zurm on Day One, we will attempt to farm Fruz 2 or 3 times for the gloves. Presuming this is successful, on Day Two, we will farm Fruz another 2 or 3 (or more) times, then repeat the process on Zogtark for the leggings. On Day 3, we farm Zoggie again, if required, & then Narnulubat. We will not be attempting to reach the Balrog, & I very much doubt (unless the idea proves unworkable) we will attempt Thrang. Whilst this may mean we have a future log-jam on the helm, frankly the helms are a bit crap, & anyway, if you've got gloves and / or leggings earlier than you expected, you've not much to complain of! Therefore...
1) Much of the normal RRU Raiding rules will inevitably be suspended. Whilst I will try to ensure that everyone gets a fair chance at winning something, it may well be possible to win more than one gem or teal item. Lucky whoever. Specifically the use of bonus rolls on gems is suspended - everyone rolls 100, & no losers will gain a bonus as a result of this particular raid.
2) Please ensure you have read the Raid Training Guide, with particular emphasis on understanding the theory of "Ad-hoc round the clock" FSMs, & on practicing good communication.
3) I want 2 BRGs on the run as much as possible, to ensure that both sides of the raid get the maximum opportunity to practice FSMs.
4) If several people want the boots, we may try farming Dave once or twice (but not Barz!).
5) If you expect to profit from this, I damn well expect you to help out. If this works, we will be locking several alts each run that are "in" when the boss goes down. This means we are going to have to keep switching people around alts, and in & out of the raid. It will require you to be available (which means staying in a TS channel somewhere, & not committing yourself to some other kin/fs run whilst you're out of the raid). I will take an extremely dim view of someone, for example, winning the gloves & then not helping farm Zogtark for the leggings (where they are probably unlikely to get a roll on the gem).
6) Please indicate which alts you intend to make available for this experiment, & ensure that they do not have any raid locks on (or, at least, not beyond Barz). Please also specifiy your primary gem roll & which alt that is for.
7) It is probable that we will make rolls for gems BEFORE the boss fights. The reason for this is to try to lock the minimum number of people on each attempt. As far as I am aware you gain a lock if you are in the raid when the boss dies. If that's correct, in a scenario where 6 people want the gloves, if you roll after, that's 1 (maybe 2) winners & 4 or 5 people locked. If you roll before, the two highest can stay in the raid (in case 2 gems drop), along with whoever else is needed to finish the boss off, & the others can leave, giving them another chance next time round.
8) I reserve the right to add any other rules to this that spring to mind, so check back just in case...
Finally, presuming the number of sign-ups indicate an enthusiasm to try this experiment, my primary gem roll is Gloves for Rędwulf. To this end, I may ask the group to allow me to ninja them on the 2nd or 3rd run - as a multi-alt specialist, I'm one of the people most likely to need to switch alts to re-balance the next attempts (in particular, switching in a MNS, as we're practically guaranteed to lock one each time & we've only a limited supply...).
