A.K.A How to Permanently Lose Aggro

From the bk14 patch notes:
The tooltip for Endurance Stance has been updated to accurately reflect that it makes “Quick Shot” into a detaunt, not just a no-taunt skill. There has been no gameplay change.

It seems that so few hunters realise that under endurance stance, quickshot actively lowers threat, they needed to explicitly clarify it in an update. The long and short of it is, that while under endurance stance, opening and spamming quickshot for a few seconds will generate a nice big pool of anti-aggro. This has two effects, it means hunters start with some reasonable DPS from the outset (quickshot + auto vs. just auto), and it also means that hunters will have a wider margin with which to dish out some spikey goodness.

If staying in endurance stance, then throwing in a bunch of quickshots between higher end nukes, should mean you'd never get aggro, even with the big nukes like heartseaker and merciful shot.

Less common is to make use of stance switching to maximise DPS and minimise aggro. Open with endurance stance and quickshot for a few seconds, then switch to a preferred stance if it isn't endurance stance and then go as is. If/when you eventually draw aggro, a handy trick is then to use beneath notice to lose the aggro quickly, then while under the buff, switch to endurance stance, spam quickshot once again. The final result is that you should have been able to generate enough anti-aggro (combined with the tank piling on aggro) to have properly lost the aggro, simple and effective ass saver.

Interesting point and I didn't really understand the patch note before you clarified it.

I think that us Hunters tend towards the "lazy" and I think the odd challenge to the norm is always a good thing... if you spot anything else then shout :)

I should point out though; if your gear and stats are high, precision is a bad choice altogether when you don't want the NPC to aggro on you. I can't use Precision unless the tank is very good.

I think as grd is my main and I've newely lvl'd my hunter I know from experience how precision etc can pull aggro. but the simple way to solve this is to stand just out of aoe range of mobs and pew pew so even if you pull the odd bit of aggro no one has to run about getting it back.

I never stop saying this to minstrels etc rather than run around when you get aggro staynear the tanks and if they are any good they will have noticed and take it back. Running away from a tank or pewpewing from extreme range is pointless and counterproductive in my opinion.

Oh yes! The point about standing still I've made elsewhere in other guides, trust me... ;)

I don't necessarily agree with the extreme range one, though. In certain cases it can be used as a deliberate tactic, provided the Hunter & tank know what they're doing.
