Would anyone be interested in joining me in "September" to role play through Vol 3 Book 2 when it comes out?

I just thought it might be a fun way to approach new content launch rather than racing through it.

You could always still race through it and then role play an alt of course, provided you play dumb as required.

I'd be interested in peoples thoughts

Hal

(err...on the assumption that it's not some stupid round the lotro world trip again!!!....might be difficult to role play that with the profanity filter on)

Ditto (I still have fond memories of the Bk15 on MoM release day...).

I love some light roleplaying. Did it on Eidora together with Nicky and Cel all the way up to lvl 60 and it can be great fun to do some mild impro-acting :D But standing around at the boar fountain in Bree for six hours like some people seem to do and bombing your chat log with stuff like /emote feels unappreciated as nobody stops for even the briefest of moments to reflect upon the tears that run down her cheeks when she thinks about bla-di bla-di bla and blää is in a too heavy league for my taste.

So if its not in the super heavy league I would love to join the fun.

That isn't heavy, just shite, and not what emotes are supposed to be for. How the hell am I supposed to SEE that you FEEL... ?? |:(I wouldn't stop to RP with someone like that.

Trust me...it'll be no way near as serious as that.

I had more in mind that we enjoy the story they tell through the book rather than all that gubbins...

And plenty of piss taking !! :)

Roleplaying is a lot of things. However being on the same page matters for it to be enjoyable.

Playing LotRO is rarely fully dedicated roleplaying for me nowadays - that is staying in character only or doing social roleplaying off the beaten questing/grinding track. I have done more of it in the past, and I will again I'm sure, but probably mostly with my Hobbit characters. I do have backstories and personalities for most of the other characters as well, but I haven't roleplayed them in a long while.

By now I mostly look at it as a flavour - such as in aliases used in the thick of combat - partly because the game world has just gotten too well known to easily shift gear to a slow and wondering pace, but mostly because having roleplayed for ages and in all types of roleplaying methods, settings, and themes, I'm feeling extremely limited roleplaying online (rather than face to face) - even if LotRO got a lot of things right in facilitating roleplaying.

Roleplaying through a screen often feels to me like hugging someome while wearing a straightjacket (and no, I have no first-hand experience of that! :)); I really want to, it can be charming and endearing, but it is never completely fulfilling.

I'd be very interested in doing an RP run through book 2 when it appears!

If you still want to join this, it'd be a good idea if you haven't been part of the stress test that will apparently have all the new content in it. Oh, wait, Hal's signed up... Still, they'll probably time this for early to mid November now, so I won't have time to participate anyway. :(

Just because you're in the stresstest that doesn't mean you have to upgrade your char to max level and test the new top level content.

You can also look into the store and the new tutorials and DX11 effects and get the 500 points ;)

Whilst that is true, I haven't seen anything that suggests that the upgrade options are staged. You either start from scratch, or cap straightaway. Who wants to stress test at L1? :s

They are staged... they will be the same as they have been in Beta...
