Hmm...is anyone else wildly UNEXCITED about this...given that all the stuff they say is new is already in the game?

Sounds like they'll add a bunch of skirmishes.......meh

Only thing of interest i've heard of so far is the new skirmish in old territory, and that all of book one will have the 'solo instances' option enabled.

What's not in the linked info, but seen elsewhere, is the fact that they seemingly scrapped or postponed the expected the North Down remake. :N

Skirmishing already bore me hugely, so this has very little for me. Might be fun to find a challenge in the Rift again though and the crafting is good...

Concerning the 'new' skirmish,

I've just read in a developer blog that in group skirmish (from duo to raid), completing the fight in the Rift skirmish depends on being good at doing FMs on the fly. Basically some enemies can only be killed with FMs -which in turn will trigger automatically- and specific FMs at that. A NPC will shout them out - the higher the tier the lesser the information.

While I still have a vain hope that they will someday re-establish the importance and magnitude of FMs, I am thrilled at this concept and I look forward to see what we can accomplish in this, knowing that we're already using FMs in a fluid yet less than orthodox way.

Odd. I was thinking about this last thing in a similar vein, but in a different way, earlier this week:

As in, perhaps the inclusion of buff or hope FMs in order to beat enemies would bring an interesting dynamic.

Or even, enemies that do FMs back.

Acoording to a dev diary

Volume III: Allies of the King will bring us to new lands, new threats, and new adventures, and as we explore this new chapter, we’ll find the tide of destiny pushing us ever onwards into danger.

Are we getting a new area or did i miss anything?

I'm guessing Volume 3 will get us new lands, but the book we're gonna get first won't

Which takes us into Hobbit land does it not. They may have an issue here in terms of license...however to contradict myself while I write (old age) they didn't have a problem with Goblin town (references to Bilbos Buttons etc)...so maybe

Ah then i must have messed up the two different titles; Allies of the king and Oath of the rangers

Degorond what you are quoting is a developer diary on the Volume - the only thing we're getting next is the first book, hence the confusion.

Edit nevermind - missed the answers already in.
