The above is what I would strongly advice your Combat Options window looked like while in Raid (I'm refering to options marked with red borders, naturally).

Auto target enemies: instances are end-game areas, where cooperation and tactics are crucial, so logically you do not auto-target anything, anytime. Most of the time you hug your Raid Assistant, attacking only what he attacks.

Skills can enable default attacks: a very deadly option, that has broken more stunns than anything else!
Crowd control is a very important part of a succesful Raid; this option checked may cause you to invouluntary break stunns even after you have stopped using skills on the target. Keep it unchecked, if you need to auto-attack, enable the mode by clicking appropriate icon (sword left of your skill bar).

Allow skill buttons to target nearest enemy: option I personally nicknamed Raid wiper - if your class has a ranged auto-attack, unchecking it AND the option above is mandatory! Especially, if you are a hunter. Imagine, you and your Raid are killing last mob in a group, you chain some skills, mob dies, and BANG! auto targetet nearest monster, which is in annother group... Wipe. I personally done it a couple of times so trust me.. until you uncheck those, it might be quite hard to avoid. For the sake of our low repair bills, uncheck please.

Enable skill target forwarding: this option works wonders combined with Raid Assist window or the option below. When checked, game attempts to use skills on your selection's selected target if the selection is not a valid target.
In other words, you can target your Raid Assist and use skills just like if you had a monster selected, and they will be aimed at the target RA has selected. If RA has nothing selected, or has selected a target that's not valid for your skill, youw will get a message Can not harm target or similar.
This is extremly useful useful as it might be used to minimise the number of mistakes when following RA: all you have to do is keep RA selected and use your skills..! Of course, it's not suitable for classes that have chained skills, needing some sort of buffs/debuffs on target to trigger as you won't see the debuff bar of RA's selection, but still.. very useful, and very lazy. And if you attack a wrong target while using this, it's all RA's fault! Brilliant!!!
One more usage is a semi-RA when not in Raid, when RA window is not aviable. Instead of laborous target choosing, Fellowship may simply choose a designated target caller; the rest of the Fellowship will follow his selection, and the advantage in RA outside of Raid is here :)

Show the vitals of your selection's target: Eru must have personally given this option to us. My personal favourite, enables the spy-mode for you! You can see what your selecton have selected, the vitals will appear in a miniature, pet-like window (a purple selection-marking will also appear on the ground, beneath the selection's target). This includes the target of your enemies as well!
This is hady to keep track of the state in which the target is, if you're using the 'lazy mode" skill forwarding, or wheter the target has been changed.
It also enhances the semi-RA usage of skill target forwarding I have given above :)
Here's an example:As you can see, I have selected Raderine and I can tell he has selected me, the naughty boy! What has he been up to?
