Afternoon dip in the spa of the Vile Maw!
(and testing the waters on a mid-week afternoon adventure)

Experience so far has been that we will not always get the Watcher down in the first try. Failing and regrouping is part of the process, so I ask you only to sign up if you have 2 hour at minimum for the raid, even if that means wiping and starting over.

As always there is the potential of a 2nd run including reserves and alts. This is not garanteed, but if the option is there we will go for it, and if possible I will post the setup for the second raid in advance.

I expect all to bring:

Ample amounts of morale/power potions.
Ample stocks of food (including poison resist).
Battle and Warding Scrolls.
Hope tokens.
Proper traiting (ask if in doubt).
Your full radiance gear (45 is a bare minimum - whether from armour alone or armour + Destiny Points buff).
I will also expect you to:

Be on time - bringing the above consumables as well as a positive spirit in full supply.
Join the RRU Teamspeak server (whether with mic or only listening). If joining it for the first time, please test that you are able in advance - better to have one person helping you than 11 waiting.
Stick to disciplined use of voice when in combat.
Loot rule:

I will give enough Nimrodel to one player to get a first age item, giving any leftover Nimrodels to the runner-ups or claiming them for the Monday Rumble stock.
If you win a First Ager, jewelry or an armour coin or similar loot, then I will not allow you to roll on anything else on that run.
Sign up with your class (classes), total radiance, and which armour piece you will roll for (only one: helmet or shoulder). Also add whether you will be available for the second run, 1-2 hours after the first, with an alt or your primary signup only (failure to do so will make me assume you are equally able to join the second as you are the first run).

Name in normal - signed up; name in bold - selected; name in italics - reserve; name in strikethrough - no-show. If you need to withdraw, please confirm absence as soon as you can. I do not select the raid on a first-come first served basis only, but early signup does help in your favour.

I cannot keep tabs on all classes - or spend my time looking at application or character data on each signup - so please make sure the info is in the post either in the main text or in your signature.

Update: This was a test, to see if it would be possible to make a mid-week afternoon run. I'm actually positively surprised to see that many sign-ups, however we might need a few more to make it happen (captains, hunters, and partly minstrels seems to be what we are short).

An option might be to postpone it an hour to 16:00, allowing Dellannan to join us - and others I suspect. In any case I am not able to publish a full raid yet, but I'm determined to not yet giving up on it yet.

Hmm my class finishes at 16h, so ill probably be home around 17h/17:30. So that puts me out of the picture..
Maybe if you decide to do a second run I can join.

As much as it saddens my soul, i cannot arrange to guarantee to be available at 15:00gmt and hence I can't sign. If I against the odds is home by then and you are short or you make a 2nd run, I am as usual all yours.

Just yesterday I pushed my minstrel to 50 radiance (got shoulders from Filikul rumble - many thanks all those who were involved). However, with my virtues not all maxed (valour & justice only 8), only minimum radiance and considering the fact that I haven' done watcher on minstrel yet, it might not be the best idea to have me healing. Offering nonetheless to try if you want me to. In the unlikely case of surviving my healing long enough to get the watcher down I would like to roll for helmet.

I am available more or less all afternoon/evening/night since I have a night off. Will attend dinner with the kids though - firstly because I want to, secondly because I would very much like to avoid trouble at home:). So I will have a break from 6pm -7pm british time.

Only just got back in the door - been out of town giving a speech - and by the look of it this will not fly. With only 11 certain signups we can't even really consider going in with an 'interesting' setup.

I'll keep tabs on the thread but I'm less than enthuisiastic about the chances at the moment. I will, however, in any case try to muster a raid tomorrow afternoon, though it might have to be later than 15:00 GMT and I might have to call for people in the RRU chat.

However, with my virtues not all maxed (valour & justice only 8),

Consider different virtues, then. Personally I would never slot Justice on any alt above L10. Ever. And I stopped using Valour shortly after Moria came out. Your other concerns may be valid, but I wouldn't let Virtues stop you! ;)

I'm going to be online this afternoon and would love to come.

As it looks like you will do a "shout out" run rather than this organised one, that fits well for me as I will not actually be online until about 4pm.

I do need to caveat that though by saying that I'm not sure if TS is on the PC I will use, so going to check that now

Cheers

Hal

PS...really want to bring Hunter please

edit 1 - rolling for shoulders

edit 2 - TS being installed atm

Update!

Did a roll call at 15:00 and we have postponed the raid to 16:00 (in 50 minutes).

Javfrid, Tevra, Ecgtharion, Reimou, Eiyja, Grinadhwin, Mythrio and myself are in the raid, but we will be looking for anyone able to step in (preference to a captain, a hunter or a minstrel - but let me know of any alt).

Though this would classify as a on-sight kill, in terms of not wiping, I have to say this was a less than smooth run. Which is absolutely insignificant considering how great that victory felt.

All resses spent, having to renew hope as it ran out, the Watcher healing himself completely, having a different class setup - and several on a new class. But we were just bastardly stubborn enough not to let go of it. Kudos all around, chaps (and chapettes :D).

Great job ppl! Both of us LM's were for the first time ever on that class there. So apologies for not sharing power that well :)

I still feel invigorated from the run.

When we killed him, all of my pent up emotion from concentrating came out, and I could hardly type from the adrenalin.

I think it's the most fun I've had for ages

So....thank you to everyone else on the run

....thank you to Hirion for the magnificently calm leading - i quote "don't panic, we are a bit behind but we can get it back...cough, cough, cough"

And we did, didn't we? As promised. 8-)

I did consider sounding the retreat the first time he healed up, but thought we might as well carry on, pressuring ourselves and see how much ground we could gain back uphill. If nothing else to get some practice in on the 3rd phase - having 4 people on new classes if I'm not mistaken. It was spectacular seeing us slow bit by bit recover and catch up - painfully slow but steady.

I'm happy Eiyja didn't have some add on programme counting his damage, because beyond some yellow FMs I think he did far most of it (and we barely only touched the Watcher to do the yellows while to and fro from one add to the next).

You did seem a bit silent afterwards (but then again I could finally cut the mic and cough my brains out - yes yes I will be seeing my GP!), but now I know why. Glad you liked it.

Hey it worked out in the end. And to be honest all our buffs running out, food, scrolls, you name it, only made the job harder on everyone - especially those sorting those pesky blue and green bars.

However, sterling FMs also helped a bundle, striking true on both Pure of Hearts, all blues and all yellows. Easily overlooked but the team effort on those really made a difference; especially the circumstances we were pulling them off under.
