View Full Version : The Rift Loot rules

In the past, we have used a free-for-all system. Anyone could roll freely on anything, with a maximum of 1 gem and 1 teal item per person. Frankly, I am not too happy about this system and would like to change it. Being leader, I can do that should I so wish. 8-)

These changes have been discussed between the Raid Leaders and some trustees of the Forum. We have all agreed these are a fair set of rules, so I will not be changing them unless it turns out otherwise.

One of the aspects of the current system I dislike is that people who have only just started their Rift set tend to roll on all gems they see. This can cause real frustration for the more experienced Rift raider, who just needs that one piece. So, to avoid this, I'm fixing the loot.

Fixing loot
During the sign up process, you are required to specify which gem you want to roll for. Or to be more clear; you are now signing up for a raid and you will have to tell us in advance you want to roll for the Chest gem this time. Should we need PUG members, they will have to tell us which gem they are interested in before we start.

Some more changes on this will be coming, so keep an eye out.

Sword of Thrang and Balrog loot
These fights are very difficult, require a solid group and intense concentration. The loot for these guys is really worth while, but I think it requires some changes to the loot rules above.
The Sword of Thrang can only be obtained by accepted members who signed up in advance.
The Balrog Shoulder gems can only be obtained by accepted members who have at least 5 other pieces of the set.
The Balrog Weapon/Shield gems can only be obtained by accepted members who have at least 5 other pieces of the set (or Helegrod set).
Any teals dropped by the Balrog can only be obtained by accepted members who signed up in advance.
The Balrog trophy can only be obtained by accepted members who signed up in advance.

The normal (purple) items are handled via normal need/greed. An accepted member is someone who has done at least 3 raids with us.

After the roll...
You've not won. Too bad, there's always next week, hopefully you'll have better luck then. That's how it's been for the past months. Working fine for most, terrible for some unlucky others. That's where the following rule comes in.

When you lose a roll, you will get an added 20 points on your next roll, to a maximum of 200. These points are player based, not character based, out of consideration for our jack-of-all-trades members. Points will be reset to the default 100 when you win a gem or at the discretion of the raid leaders.

This does not apply to PUGs. Only accepted members are eligible for these bonus points.

The maximum roll you are allowed to do will be listed on the raid schedule page.

Raid attendance
If you are signing up for a raid, I expect demand you be there and be on time. If something important comes up, take 2 minutes to log on here and let the raid leaders know. Failing to show up for a raid or cancelling at the last second may be punished. Punishments are at the discretion of the Officers and can include temporary exclusion from loot rolls, or reduction of loot roll bonuses.
