As regards the new Loot rules: As a newbie to the Rift I'm completely unfussed about which gem I roll for, so will be content being allocated one to roll on which is not in high demand by the veterans.

I'd love to be there for all three runs (if there's room for another LM), would want to roll for Thrang's or Thaurlaugh's gems(have the other 4 set items), so Thrang's I guess. Would happily skip the first run for someone who'd need a gem from the first bosses.
Could also be there as Eldiron (50 minstrel) but his armour and traits aren't all they should be yet(would roll on everything :Y )

A lot of signups we have so far. If we can get 24 (in a balanced group) good people, we'll do 2 raids. It would require someone to step up and take lead of the second group though.

Well that was ... lets say not very satisfactory.

Instead of having a nice hopefully smooth run actually starting on time with people we know and who know the place ...
... we spent an hour trying to cobble a second group together ... and at least one group of that then didnt really get very far thanks to partly bad luck, but also inexperience of some groupmembers (and the third, final attempt on Barz went a lot better which clearly shows that inexperience was a big factor) - and I'm sure I'm not the only one feeling somewhat frustrated about that. It was basically like signing up for a cool raid and getting almost what felt like a pug as we needed to constantly explain stuff which does slow things down a lot.

Now I'm not against taking first timers along - I mean it has to be everyones first time sometime ;)
... but well maybe under more controlled conditions, and with people actually reading the guide first and stuff?
To be honest, I would very much prefer it for the future if we did just one raid (unless there is really enough signups to fill a second) and who signs up first goes (and if its me who is too late, tough luck and have fun) and who is late signing up has to hope someone drops out (and maybe gets preference next time or something) or just sign up earlier next time ;)

I am also not looking forward to tomorrow unless its only one group then, as the group who did really badly today would then be stuck with continuing there, which means we would likely get fill ins again ... and I would very much like to get past the second boss :cry:

If some of this sounds bad I'm sorry, but I am still feeling upset about this, and not very happy so maybe I shouldn't have written this now ...but otherwise I'd just be turning it over and over in my mind which would just make it worse. However this is NOT meant to be an attack against our raidmembers/leaders, just a venting of frustration at what turned out to be an unsatisfying evening ... sigh ....

It's understandable, while both groups definately had new people in (actual competition for the boots says it all really), it seems your group did get far more of the inexperienced people and really was more a PUG than an experienced raid group. As for the next few days, its going to be interesting and difficult to resolve. If the second group regulars want to join the first group to have a more familiar run, then there are going to be some people displaced, which would obviously upset some people. However as you have pointed out, if things are left as they are, several members of your group will be unhappy going at a slower than usual pace and having to explain tactics repeatedly, which could easily mean the second group would collapse before the run even begins.

Basically we're going to need to discuss this at length when we all meet tommorow.

Perhaps in the future if we are tryin to get 2 raids goin then it should be organised from the start, I mean its always been 1st come 1st served so fill up the list like usual and have a second list for the overflow of ppl followin the certain class restrictions I mean say u have 4 loremasters the last 2 that sign get stuck on raid #2, would have to say that if ur on the second sheet and it dosent fill up or close enuff with whats needed then its a case of sign up sooner next time, random ppl are fine but if you have too many its very difficult.. and i dont have anything against new ppl either lol this aint a knock on anyone.
Also if raid #2 isnt looking like its gonna happen they could be a reserve pool for the ppl that dont show up or have to pull out from raid #1 on the same 1st come basis.

Ofcourse this is all easier said than done but it's up to the management just an idea, Cheers.

Believe me Daphne I feel your pain!
Even though this is my first Rift run, I still felt frustration at not getting beyond the first boss. Hopefully you'll agree that Saturday night went much smoother, despite some newb LM not being able to cure wounds in combat...who could that have been? :oops:

(Unbelievably I hit the limit on Sunday morning still needing three more to finish the deed! :x )

Definately agree with you that the raids should fill up on a first come first served basis, or else there's no point in having this forum to sign up in. If there's more than 12 then great, let them sort a group out themselves, but that should not really hold the first, full group back from starting on time.
