Welcome to Beorningas
Abandon Hope all ye who enter here,
Through me you pass into the city of woe,
Through me you pass into eternal pain,
Through me among the people lost for aye.
Welcome to the home of Beorningas. And don't say you weren't warned! If you found your way here deliberately, then you obviously know all about us, or at least enough to get you started. If you found us accidentally then Running Away Now may be your best bet. Otherwise, don't blame us.
Still reading? Oh dear, well don't say you weren't warned! We started life as a raiding alliance on the Laurelin LOTRO server. Now, we encompass Guild Wars 2 as well. We are an eclectic group. It's a bit like penguins. Or sheep. Or gravity. The huddle works according to fluid dynamics (sort of). You start off on the outside, find yourself randomly gravitating towards the inside, and so it goes around... But everyone keeps mostly warm, and only occasionally does an individual get thrown off into the outer dark.
Originally formed in the Dim and Distant Past (it was more than 3 months ago & none of us can remember any further back than that... 'specially Hal...), we remain, theoretically a raiding alliance. In practice, we really function as a sort of super-kin. Raiding is still a regular feature, with dates posted in our forum & calendar. But we also encompass all the activities you would expect of a decent sized kin. As well as scheduled Raids & Instances, we also organise groups on the fly; we have our own in-game userchannel & TeamSpeak server; you will find chat forums, guides forums (both raid / instance & class / gameplay guides have their own forums); lists of craftsmen.
As well as scheduled Raids & Instances, we also organise groups on the fly; we have our own in-game userchannel & TeamSpeak server; you will find chat forums, guides forums (both raid / instance & class / gameplay guides have their own forums); lists of craftsmen; we have our own Creep Tribe too (we're even talking about Freeping the Moors now, something that has hitherto been very far from our repertoire).
So sign up & join in if you are so minded. You are in no way required to change your Kinship, Tribe, Guild, or World in order to play with us. However we do ask you to fill in a form to give us some basic information about yourself, how you found us, etc. Be warned, we are not an equal opportunities group. We absolutely reserve the right to discriminate against you if you are stupid, incompetent, unfriendly, don't follow instructions, a greedbag who's joining for their own profit rather than to enjoy all the benefits of being a part of a successful alliance, or any combination of the foregoing!
Inexperience we can cope with (experience too!). We only demand that you be friendly, prepared to listen, prepared to learn; prepared to teach us, if you know stuff we don't!
The Boring Bits
Please make sure you read The Rules (in The Pub) so that you know what to expect from us, and what we expect from you. In particular, the rules are explicit about the use of txtspeak & l33t. We are a Light RP Alliance. You don't have to RP in the least, but please respect the wishes of others & try not to spoil the atmosphere. If you can't, or won't, respect what we are, you will not fit in with us.
As a new member, you may need to be patient. People don't know you, and leaders aren't instantly going to pick you when you sign up. Nevertheless, we do our best to offer opportunites to new folk to show us their best. The only hard-&-fast rule for selecting for groups is that it is the choice of the group leader.
And there's our guiding principle - we've lots of people capable of stepping up to lead, and whoever is leading... They are right. Doesn't matter if it's different from the last raid leader who chose you; the leader is always right. You've plenty to choose from; we're a big Alliance; so you can always sign up with someone else another time. Just remember that someone is taking the trouble to organise something that you are benefitting from, and they deserve both courtesy & respect for that, if nothing else.
There are many factors for Leaders to consider in selecting members for Raids, and each of us has their own style of play & way of working. Rest assured that we are all committed to Beorningas, & that includes wanting to see the membership grow, so we do our best to give new members opportunities. We even run simultaneous groups, or rolling raids, if we have enough people available, so don't be put off signing up for something because you think it's already full.
Above all, have fun! That's what the game is here for after all...
